Reinthaler Robs Your Right to Be Represented

According to a Sheboygan Press article covering the Common Council organization meeting, City Attorney Chuck Adams informs us that the losing candidate for the District 10 alder seat made the decision to prevent residents of District 10 from being represented in the selection of council leadership.

Adams is quoted as saying, “While I indicated our office’s willingness to work with her to draft such a written waiver, she made the decision not to pursue this.” Adams added, “This was within her rights to decide.”

Marcia Reinthaler led the effort to infringe on the constitutional rights of residents of District 10.

Reinthaler denied her own neighbors the right to be represented in their government.

Chuck Adams stated it was her right.

Why did the losing candidate have more power than the winning candidate in the election of council leadership — the power to trample the rights of your neighbors to be represented?

The election was on April 2. The results were available that evening.

The Sheboygan Press article states that Reinthaler waited until April 8 to file the request for a recount.

Why did Reinthaler wait so long?

Was this a coordinated effort to run out the clock to prevent Heidemann from being sworn in?

Mayor Sorenson reacted quickly to Alder Mitchell’s request to delay the vote until ALL citizens of Sheboygan had representation.

Mayor Sorenson incorrectly called it out of order and was embarrassingly corrected by Adams due to his lack of understanding of city ordinances and his failure to lead a Common Council meeting correctly.

TBS is surprised that City Attorney Adams publicly points the finger at Reinthaler in the Sheboygan Press.

Marcia, if you feel that Adams is being dishonest or unethical by stating you chose to deny your neighbors their right to fair representation, please email TBS with your side of the story.

If you do not respond, TBS will assume your silence implies you did indeed decide to strip the most fundamental right from the residents of your own neighborhood.
